NEWS RELEASE Release Date: March 4, 2002 Randy R. Ott of Liverpool, NY Receives (Syracuse, NY) Randy R. Ott, P.E. of Liverpool, NY is the recipient of the annual John Chester Brigham Award from the New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA). The NYWEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of water quality management professionals with 2,100 members and seven regional chapters. The award, which recognizes outstanding service within the organization, was formerly announced during the organizations annual meeting held February 4-6 in New York City. A professional engineer, Ott is the Process Control Director for the Onondaga County Department of Water Environment Protection and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of eight wastewater treatment plants and the departments Biosolids Management Program. In addition, he is project manager for both the $120 million Ammonia and Phosphorus Removal Project at the Metropolitan Syracuse Wastewater Treatment Plant and the $40 million redesign of the Wetzel Road Wastewater Treatment Plant. A NYWEA member since 1972, Ott currently chairs the organizations Biosolids and Residuals Management Committee and is a member of the Program Committee. He has been instrumental in the establishment of the annual Biosolids Specialty Conference held in Syracuse and the Beneficial Use of Biosolids Award. The biosolids committee also develops a technical session for the annual NYWEA meeting and Ott has presented numerous papers at these meetings. Ott also served as past chair of the Industrial and Hazardous Waste Committee, and is a member of the national Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers. ###
