Women of Wastewater

What is WOW?

The WOW group is comprised of environmental professionals affiliated with the Genesee Valley Chapter of the New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA). The group was established in the early 2000s by Ann Kupferschmid and Christie Sunderrajan and includes women from the environmental industry including, entrepreneurs, consultants, scientists, engineers, regulatory agencies (NYSDEC, MCPW, etc), and suppliers of related services.

What do we do?

Historically, WOW ladies enjoy meeting once a month for environmental industry networking purposes. Meetings typically include a presentation, a facility tour, or a happy hour.  The meetings are very friendly, informative, and flexible. Meetings can also be unique and more casual such as an outdoor hike, or field trip/tour of a facility. We aim for a mid-week, lunch-hour meeting and avoid gathering on Mondays and Fridays. There is no cost to join or membership requirement.
