  • 3 + Years Lead Operator or above experience
  • 8 + Years experience in the water and wastewater treatment field

Maintenance Planner/Scheduler – Suez

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for insuring the company’s fleet of vehicles are in adequate condition. Will perform administrative duties such as maintaining records of the fleet usage and costs, prepares reports, optimizes costs and usage. Will be responsible for planning and scheduling corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance work orders for the sewer collection system Lift Stations. Will coordinate with contractors performing facilities maintenance. The position requires knowledge of vehicles functioning, repair and maintenance specifically for heavy vehicles used in wastewater network collection operation and maintenance. Knowledge of CDL class truck maintenance preferred, wastewater and/or network systems operations and maintenance desired. Sewage Treatment Plant Operator A – Brookhaven National Laboratory

The Energy & Utilities Division, within the Facilities and Operations Directorate of Brookhaven National Laboratory, has an opportunity to fill the position of a “Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator A”, which is anchored at building 575 and reports directly to the Water Systems Supervisor.  New employee will be assigned to the day shift M-F 8am-4:30pm.    All operators work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under minimum supervision repairs, maintains and operates Sewage Treatment Plant, including related facilities and equipment. Conducts a variety of chemical quality and other tests of sewage influent and effluent and ground water associated with the operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant. Maintains necessary records.  Must currently possess and maintain a NYSDEC 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator Certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires 5 years or equivalent of operation and maintenance experience at an activated sludge wastewater treatment facility
  • Ability to learn and maintain a thorough understanding of the operation and control of the Facility, including computer control systems, instrumentation, safety systems, water testing, functioning of the Preliminary Treatment, Pump Station, Aeration Tank & Clarifier, Disc Filtration Equipment, Drainage Basins & Emergency Lagoons
  • Strong decision making skills and the ability to respond to a complex set of circumstances
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to effectively assist in maintenance and repairs including skill in the use of tools and equipment relating to the mechanical and electrical trades
  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English
  • The ability to work overtime and extended hours if necessary
  • The ability to respond to emergencies on off hours as needed
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s license
  • Operating the equipment in a safe and conscientious manner following safety rules, procedures, and actively participating in safety programs, such as confined space, lock-out/tag-out, etc.
  • Maintain records and log books, of rounds and inspections performed
  • Operate, monitor and secure treatment processes and plant equipment; recognize abnormal conditions and take corrective action
  • Perform routine and demand maintenance as well as repairs as necessary in order to keep the plant operating at optimal efficiency
  • Perform daily chemical analysis of all operating systems such as Biomass Solids, RAS and MLSS evaluation, Nitrogen Testing, Settleable Solids, Influent and Effluent Water Quality
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual planned maintenance on all plant related equipment as assigned
  • Assist in maintaining a high level of housekeeping, inventory, and maintenance of tools

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Activated Sludge System & Controls
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Disc Filtration Systems
  • Experience with in-Line instrumentation (pH, Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen, Flow, Radiation)
  • Experience with Groundwater Drainage Basins
  • Ability to work with and maintain tools
  • Experience with the use of tractor & ride on mowers

Environmental, Safety, and Health, Considerations:

  • Standing, bending, and lifting, up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders and work at heights up to 30 feet
  •  Use of a respirator and other related safety equipment
  • Work outdoors/cold environments

  • Some rigging & hoisting
  • Use of powered and air operated hand tools
  • Operates ride-on mower, tractor or other heavy equipment

Operations Superv​isor – Suez, Wantagh, NY

Supervises a staff of Plant Operators – trainees, 1A licensed Operators, 2A licensed Operators and 3A licensed Operators and directs their daily duties in accordance with the requirements of the Plant. 

Education/Equivalent:

Valid NYS Driver’s license and the ability to meet risk management guidelines

Possess a valid NY State Grade 3A Wastewater Treatment License, 4A license desired.

Work Experience Needed:

Advanced/Upper Level 10+ years’ experience in Wastewater Treatment plant O&M holding mid-level certification

5+ years of experience working in a position of Secondary Lead/Chief Operator holding upper-level certification

10+ years of experience required working in the Wastewater Treatment or related field

Experience with automated purchasing, maintenance systems, project contract administration in the water/wastewater utilities industry is preferred.​

STV- White Plains, New York

Job Description:

STV is seeking resident engineers (RE’s) and inspectors for field assignments in Westchester County up through Poughkeepsie, NY (Duchess County).  Experience with  the MTA and Metro North field construction is preferred.  The work includes, but is not limited to, trench construction, cable and signaling construction/ conduits and troughs, site work, road and pavement restoration.  Certification as Professional Engineers in NYS for RE’s is strongly preferred.   Certification in OSHA-10 and/or OSHA-30 desired, Certification and track training also preferred.   RE’s will act as the on-site managers, communicating directly with MTA/MNR on daily needs, overseeing contractors, monitoring construction quality and schedule and reporting on the work.
